My Travels
I like to travel and have been fortunate to see many countries around the world. Some years ago when I was visiting my brother, who was living in Washington DC at the time, I saw he had a map with pins to show his travels hanging over his stairs. Since then I have hung a similar map over my stairs to show my travels. The rules are that we can only stick a pin in a location if we stay overnight. Of course, I have stayed in many places for much longer than one night, including a year in London. But one night is the minimum to be eligible for a pin. Day trips don't count, nor do airport stopovers. Here's a picture of my travel map and in due course I hope to add photo galleries to show the places I have been to see so far. So many places, people, food and cultures still to experience!
13/03/08 - Visit to Hangzhou
I visited Hangzhou in the Yangtze River Delta in China for the first time in March and was impressed by its beauty and cultural heritage. Marco Polo famously said of Hangzhou that it was "beyond dispute the finest and the noblest [city] in the world." Among other things I was fortunate to be able to visit the famous West Lake and the Lingyin Temple with its Feilai Feng grottos. I also enjoyed drinking Longjing tea (Dragon Well tea) at a small Ma and Pa tea house in Xi Hu Longjing Village. Visit My Travels page for photos and more...
